Powerful Grief Counseling Techniques and Strategies

Grief can be one of the most difficult experiences a person can go through. Grief is often experienced from losing a loved one, the end of a relationship, losing a job, or even from experiencing a natural disaster. Any situation where there is a feeling of losing something, whether it is physical or emotional, can lead to the experience of grief.

Unfortunately, our culture has many misconceptions about grief. We are often taught that time heals all wounds, a belief that can actually cause damage. We are also given messages that being strong means that we should turn away from our feelings and "get over it." Sadly, these misconceptions tend to prolong the grieving process and cause more suffering.

In this course you will learn:

  • How long it takes to grieve and what to expect
  • How to validate and understand the feelings that come up with loss
  • How to make a personalized resiliency plan
  • Why the standard stages of grief model is outdated
  • How to use mindfulness, journaling, and yoga to work through grief
  • How to draw on our personal connections to support you through the grieving process
  • Research backed techniques that will help you heal the wound of grief
